They're American. They work for Car and Driver. Seriously, what were you expecting?

A little bit more professionalism and respect for an oddball car. Motor trend or an other channel would not be as much of a douche as those guys.

Actually they were being honest about the Citron, which is also the name for a type of Lemon.

About Citrons,

I had to help a friend get a DS on a flat bed tow truck, which is almost impossible to do when the engine won't run. So we dragged it around the parking lot while in gear with my Econoline to pressurize the suspension enough to instal wooden blocks to prevent it from lowering. It's owner was not amused with the block ventilation caused by forcing it's seized engine to turn, but he insisted my friend return it at his cost, which is rather odd for a dead loaner car of an auto repair shop.

Another friend had a similar car to the video and found he had to know the year, month and day it was made to get it serviced, since Citron was switching between parts suppliers depending on whose parts were available. As in the brakes came from one supplier for half the week. He described it as a total piece of junk, he unfortunately bought new.

So if you have a problem with Car and Driver, who are in my old hometown, then just tell then that I knew who put that large TV set in US23. That is the TV that their late and former editor David E. Davis drunk drove a borrowed Mercedes into, and then proceeded to stagger about. But then he was so drunk that he was swerving back and forth before hitting the TV and everyone at the magazine knew he was trashed. So he had to arrange at his own cost, to repair the Merc ASAP, at a very high cost. Just tell them that we know the culprit and will never tell the details....

And by the way the Citron in question is a TOTAL AND HORRIBLE PIECE OF CRAP.

It didn't need to be destroyed. If the suspension worked and it ran, it could have been a good project for someone or have been used for spare parts.

Can't imagine they're easy to find.

Judging by the state of that car, that was the appropriate action on their part.

They are obnoxious asses... Other than that, they are right and treat the car the way it deserves it. It is a piece of crap, but like most people on Oppo or Jalopnik, you suffer from the "can't have it" syndrome (well you can have this one, it's just rare).

This is the reason why people here like Kei cars or renault Twingos. They can't have them, therefore it's awesome!

Well, it's not, for a huge majority, they are crap. and the R34 GTR is NOT fun, it's a rather boring car even. Fast, but terribly boring. But you can't have it: LEGEND!!

So yep, the CX is awful and they all deserve this kind of death.

here in the states we like things that are so bad that they're good. For instance when a really crappy movie comes out people see it because of its flaws. I know the CX is unreliable, but it's an oddball car that could have been parted out or something along those lines.

It's not just unrealiable, it's really crappy even when it works... I like crappy cars that are so bad they are good... Heck, I bought a 96 Mustang and enjoyed it like crazy on track :)

But most bad french cars don't fit that category. Twingos, CX, they are not "oddballs" for a french guy. To us, they are the Geo Metros and Lincoln Towncars of our past.

Meanwhile, I just want to know why Japan won't ship this kit to the States at our cost (and we've asked):

It's a Corvette...with a body kit from BSM. It's in Japan, we've tried to get a group buy before to get it, but they declined shipping it to the USA. Which blows, because I think it looks phenomenal and, since my front bumper has a big ol' indent in it anyway, would make a great replacement.

It comes in two flavors, one for the more angular early cars and one for the later cars:

The main problem comes from the postal restrictions to ship anything internationnaly without using a private carrier (to use "JapanPost"). The whole package has to have the sum of all of its side to be equal to or less than 3m long and weight less than 30kg per package.

If it doesn't meet these requirement, it has to ship by a private postal service and it's a mess when international.

Sucks, because it looks good, I like it.

(and yesI recognized the C4 lol, I owned one :) )

B.S.M. doesn't even seem to be around any more after looking. While a search for their fate has turned up inconclusive, their website is gone and some of the Japanese auto sites with their brand listed turn up no results when you try and look up products under it.

Real shame. The likelihood of more C4 kits of this quality being made is really low, because the demand just isn't there. All we've got access to are those super tacky Greenwood-knockoffs and such.

Also, yeah, I remember you owned one (it's also your avatar!), just covering all the bases. :p

why? it seemed about as fair and as balanced as the car deserved... after all Jeremy Clarkson made one into a high-rise motorhome, so I wonder what about this blurb set you to counting dicks?

You don't see a CX so often unlike in Europe. Clarkson has charisma and comedic qualities, something these presenters lack severely. I'm not the count from sesame street, so I don't count.

I remember that one of these guys was introduced as a writer on Jalopnik by Matt. This was at a time the story about the CX was pitched, but the end result not yet known. For some reason the guy was sacked/dropped out within days, contributing to nothing but the welcome post.

I'm glad.

Well, that's just your opinion. The prices of nice CXs are considerably higher, at least in my part of Europe that isn't France, than of its contemporaries. It's a sought after classic. Sought after by those who can have it.

I do exaggerate, but still, it was an awful awful car... There are collectors for everything but the CX is definitely no SM or DS.

Sure Citroen did worse with the BX for example, but this period of Citroen is... meh, very, VERY meh...

Anyone who chooses to destroy a salvageable or with-parts automobile, no matter how 'crap' they consider it to be cannot call themselves a true car lover in my book. For shame, Road and Track.
